FORGET YOU: An Unforgettable Romantic Drama & iBook Bestseller

Jennifer Echols joins us to talk about her e-book bestseller, Forget You. For several weeks in July, it hit the top ten in the "Children and Teens" section of the iBookstore, and it's been a Barnes and Noble bestseller as well!

Tell us what Forget You is about.

After her mother’s breakdown, a teen fears she's going crazy herself as she tries to piece together what happened the night of a car wreck she can't remember, and why her darkly handsome arch-enemy has fallen in love with her.

How did you get published: traditionally or independently? Recently or further in the past?

I sold two books to Simon & Schuster in 2005, and I have been with them ever since. My latest book published a few weeks ago, SUCH A RUSH, is my ninth.

What top factors do you believe put your e-book where it is now?

The e-book version of FORGET YOU is usually priced at $9.99, but Simon & Schuster reduced the price of it and a previous novel, GOING TOO FAR, to $3.99 as a special promotion during Comic Con.

What is your target audience, and how do you believe the e-format works for that audience and serves their needs?

I also write romantic comedies for teenagers, and those are appropriate for ages 12 and up. However, FORGET YOU is one of my romantic dramas, and my target audience for those books is older teenagers, though adults tell me they enjoy the books too. This young adult audience seems very savvy about e-books, and I believe the fact that they received Nooks and Barnes & Noble gift cards for the holidays is probably what placed FORGET YOU at #7 on barnesandnoble.com around Christmas in 2010, a few months after it debuted.
